MTV Networks has announced plans to launch a mobile subscription-based service called Bananas, featuring short video clips from MTV, MTV2 and mtvU (including snippets from the shows Laguna Beach, the Real World and Two-A-Days), along with an assortment of ringtones and wallpapers.

Bananas - available initially as either a $5.95 or a $9.95 a month service - will be MTVN’s first attempt at selling an MTV-branded service directly to consumers.
