Numerous websites are reporting that reality star-turned-actress Kristin Cavallari is considering joining the cast of MTV’s hit series, The Hills, in which her former Laguna Beach rival Lauren Conrad currently stars.

Several inside sources told E! Online’s Kristin Veich that Hills producers are entertaining the possibility of reuniting Cavallari with Lauren Conrad on the show. The same insiders reported that Conrad is not exactly thrilled with the idea of having Cavallari on the show, most likely due to the fact that the two of them were involved in a love triangle with Stephen Colletti during their Laguna Beach days.

Meanwhile, a source close to Kristin Cavallari informed People magazine of the television star’s own desire to join The Hills, mainly because she “feels like a loser every time she sees L.C.’s fame.”

The source added, “If Kristin goes on [The Hills], it will not be because she wants to or because she misses the life of a reality star. It will be a business move. She needs to make a living — she wants to be rich and famous — and if she can use The Hills to make a bigger name for herself, she’ll grin and bear it.”

While Kristin Cavallari and Lauren Conrad’s romantic ties with Colletti have long been severed, tension between the two may continue to build, with Conrad involved in a coy romantic relationship with Cavallari’s ex-beau, Brody Jenner.

MTV has issued a statement saying that they confirm the reports. Cavallari, who has had cameos in such scripted series as Cane and Veronica Mars, also has not confirmed her appearance on The Hills. She has, however, been seen going into the NBC Universal Studios lot to reportedly attend a casting meeting for NBC’s upcoming drama series, Lipstick Jungle.

MTV, meanwhile, will air eight bonus episodes of The Hills in the spring.
