WWD.com reports “Since the MTV reality show “The Hills,” based on Teen Vogue intern Lauren Conrad, returned in mid-January, newsstand sales for the Condé Nast teen title have increased by double digits over last year.”
Pretty good since all of Teen Vogue’s competitors have shut down due to poor newstand sales….
TeenPeople.com has an interview with L.C. about her breakup with Jason Wahler.
After a summer split with her Laguna Beach costar Jason Wahler and a fall fling with Brody Jenner that didn’t quite last a month, Lauren Conrad says she’s learned some important life lessons.
“Breaking up with Jason was the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” the Hills star, who recently celebrated her 21st birthday, tells CosmoGIRL! in its March issue. “I still wanted to be with him but I knew that I couldn’t be.”
She helped mend her broken heart with the aid of a pal: The Hills costar Heidi Montag. “I was so fortunate to have Heidi, who is my best friend. She took me away on a road trip to Las Vegas, and we had the best time,” Conrad says.
“It was important for me to know that I could still have a good time without a boyfriend. I slept in her bed for a month because I couldn’t go into my room. The only thing that heals a broken heart is time. But it really helps hanging out with your girlfriends as much as possible.”
Now, Conrad, who was recently named the spokesperson for Avon’s mark. brand, is focused on her career: “I’ve been given an opportunity with Laguna Beach and The Hills, and my father – who is the smartest man I know – has advised me to capitalize on those opportunities,” she says. “So that’s what I’m trying to do – make contacts, get to know people. Hopefully that will help me as I start moving into my fashion career.”
And she already has some fashion tips for young women. “Sometimes I look at what really young girls wear and I can’t believe it – I have underwear that covers more than what some of them have on!
“I think it’s important that girls know that they can be attractive and sexy in a classy way and that guys actually like that more than when they see girls who show a lot of skin. For me, I like clothes and I like to wear them to cover up.”
www.celebrity-gossip.net reports “Lauren Conrad, who became a celebrity after appearing on MTV’s reality show Laguna Beach, celebrated her 21st birthday in style on February 1st.
The event, held in West Hollywood, was attended by friends, family and notables including Amanda Fields, Audrina Patridge, Heidi Montag, Kyle Davis, and Nadia Bjorlin.
In other news related to Ms. Conrad, she has just joined forces with Avon cosmetics. The reality TV star will appear in a combination of magazine and catalog ads, referred to as ‘megalog’ to promote Avon’s teen and young women brand, mark., which was launched in 2003 and has proven to be a success among the target group. The mark. brand ads will also have an online presence according to PR newswire releases.”
First it was Virtual Laguna Beach, now MTV introduces “Virtual Hills” just in time for the premiere of the “The Hills” second season.
“Virtual Hills, an extension of the popular television show “The Hills,” which debuts tonight, immerses fans of the show in all the glitz, glamour and fashion of the LA scene. Virtual Hills replicates large portions of Hollywood and the popular venues where the cast members — Lauren “LC” Conrad, Heidi, Audrina and Whitney — hang out. Viewers can recreate their own drama in-world, meet other Hills fans and hang out with the cast, who will be actively engaged in curating the online experience.”
This virtual world launches tonight with a virtual premiere party and in-world appearances from the cast. Fans will be able to party with Lauren, Whitney, Heidi and Audrina and catch exclusive footage from the real season-two premiere party held at Club Area, an LA nightspot prominently featured in the show and built out in Virtual Hills.
“The Hills’ cast members will have a hand in creating in-world story arcs to guide fans’ virtual experiences. In the coming weeks, Lauren, with the assistance of Whitney, will launch a fashion challenge, host fashion shows and offer designing and modeling tips; Audrina, who lives for music,
will host concert events and other music series throughout the season; and Heidi will throw exclusive, invite-only parties for the ultra-cool and ultra-hip in- world.”
“There is so much similarity between where I live my real life and what I’ve experienced in Virtual Hills,” said Lauren “LC” Conrad, star of MTV’s “The Hills.” “I’m excited to interact with fans from all over the country and help program some of the in-world experiences to give viewers a virtual taste of my life.”
Get ready for another season of Lauren and the girls! Season 2 will premiere on Monday, January 15, 2007 on MTV at 10PM. Less than a month to go! Get ready for a great season of The Hills.

The parents of “Laguna Beach” stars are finally speaking out about all the negative press the show is giving the town.
“People now blame MTV for everything,” said Candace Hurley, whose two sons have appeared on the show.
“They blame the crowds on MTV. It’s not like there are bands of kids coming in. It’s families taking photos in front of the Laguna Beach High School sign. Why is that such a negative?“
Her son Kelan became a cast member to promote his band. He now has a record contract with Sony, she said. “My son set out to not embarrass our family and to show off his band,” she said. “We feel lucky the show did what we hoped for.”
Jim Conrad’s daughter Lauren (aka LC) starred in the first season and later got her own spin-off series, The Hills. His younger daughter, Breanna, is a cast member of season three. He said the school board’s decision to bar MTV from the high school campus backfired.
“We wanted them to show school activities and present our kids in the best light. So without that, what is left? Parties, going out,” he said. “I would say 80 per cent of people here couldn’t care less. They don’t watch the show, they don’t like it or hate it. I’m no rah-rah cheerleader for MTV, but it hasn’t ruined our town.”
Where were the parents throughout the shows? I thought the town was run by kids!!!

The Hills - The Complete 1st Season arrives in stores on Feb 13th.
From TVshowsondvd.com “Laguna Beach’s Lauren (LC) Conrad is all grown up and it’s time for her to leave “the bubble” and make a life of her own. Follow Lauren to LA as she attempts to balance a demanding internshi at Teen Vogue and a full course load with a demanding nightlife and a full social calendar. But at least she won’t have to do it alone. Along the way she meets several friends who expose her to a different part of the city, each chasing their own dreams. The Hills tells the story of four young women on their own for the first time and the fun, laughter and drama that they all share.”
Brody Jenner likes to keep his women coming and going just like ping-pong balls. And why these girls continue to fall for him is beyond us.
It was recently revealed that Brody Phony has moved on from his relationship with Lauren “LC” Conrad and quickly called out “Next!” before the blonde barely even had a chance to infuriate her MTV “Laguna Beach” rival.
The womanizing playa - who started dating Nicole Richie shortly after he ended his relationship with Kristin Cavallari earlier this year - has apparently gotten bored of LC as well and gone back to his “pimping ways.”
The 23-year-old recently confirmed with People magazine that LC is no longer in the picture and, before the year is over, he’ll probably have dated almost every young starlet in Tinseltown.
He told People, “We’re not together anymore.”
The pair dated for less than a month.
