Laguna Beach Season 3 DVD - Not Coming Out?

Aug 14, 2007 Author: Gossip Queen | Filed under: Laguna Beach, MTV

Laguna Beach Season 3Tvshowsondvd.com reports “At the beginning of the month, we passed on the studio announcement for Laguna Beach - The Complete 3rd Season on DVD, which was supposed to have a street date of July 24th. This morning, as we get some new announcements from Paramount (which we’ll post separately in a bit), we’re also checking for updates on previously announced titles (looking for new details, cover art, etc.). Laguna Beach, though, is nowhere to be found.

It seems that this title quietly came back off the schedule sometime during the past few weeks. We don’t know what the reason would be, or have any hint of what a new release date might be (or if there IS a new release date). More of Paramount’s schedule-shuffling? Probably; there’s been a lot of that lately. Stay tuned, though, and we’ll let you know if we find out anything.”

US Magazine reports: The Hills doesn’t premiere until Monday, but the drama is already in full swing!

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt were “banned” from attending the MTV show’s post-premiere party Wednesday night in L.A., a show source tells Usmagazine.com, due to the couple’s escalating feud with costars Lauren Conrad and Audrina Patridge.

MTV’s Newport Harbor cast

It’s Official! MTV has announced the premiere of their newest show “Newport Beach: The Real Orange County” on August 15th at 10:30pm. CLICK HERE out the cast, trailer and description of the show.

For three years we have lived, loved and come of age with the teenagers of Laguna Beach. This season, we’re moving up the coast… to Newport Harbor! Join a new group of friends as they discover new loves, face new rivalries and suffer new heartbreaks. On the road to their first kiss, the newest, hottest couple at school contend with an overprotective father and a girl that’s used to getting everything she wants. Meanwhile, former best friends compete for the affection of a sophomore beauty. As they prepare to leave their childhood behind, they’ll find that high school isn’t always a day at the beach. New beauty, new town, new love and new faces: Newport Harbor - The Real Orange County.

Variety reports that MTV is overhauling their programming for the fall schedule & 2008.

The Hills“The Hills,” is back and will receive an 18-episode order, roughly double the number of episodes in its most recent season. It was also revealed that the third season would debut on Aug. 13.

“MTV has decided to order a fourth season of its hit “Laguna Beach”; it had previously considered not bringing it back.

Net is moving forward on a new season with an all-new cast. Series will be very much in the vein of the show’s first season — following a group of classmates in their final year (or, in some cases, two years) of high school.

While show won’t be shot at Laguna High, it is currently in production at another unnamed Orange County school — likely in Newport Beach — and could be on the air later this year.

Execs are still undecided whether to tweak the name to reflect the new locale or extend the franchise by keeping the “Laguna” title.”

Ryan SchecklerAlso confirmed Wednesday a series greenlight for docu series “The Life of Ryan,” about teen skateboarder Ryan Scheckler, the San Clemente native who is one of the sport’s rising stars.

Series will follow Scheckler in both his career and his family, particularly his relationship with his siblings, and will be on the air later this year.

Clooney & Pitt asked to save Laguna Beach landmark

George Clooney & Brad PittTwo activists trying to save Laguna Beach’s famed Boom Boom Room appealed to actors George Clooney and Brad Pitt in an ad in Daily Variety today, urging them to buy the landmark so it can be preserved as a gay bar.

The actors were rumored to have bought the vintage-1927 Coast Inn and its funky bar in the fall of 2005, along with airplane-leasing mogul Steve Udvar-Hazy, though representatives for the actors denied it. The property now is rumored to be for sale.

”Now we are appealing to both of you to buy our 60-year-old landmark before it is converted into a boutique hotel,” says the ad placed by activist Fred Karger and former Laguna Beach Mayor Bob Gentry.

Laguna Beach Has Been Cancelled & Moved to Newport Beach

Newport Beach MTVrealityblog reports an important update about our favorite show….

“After that post about the end of Laguna and the new show in development in Newport, I received lots of questions, so I just wanted to address them here by posting a few Frequently Asked Questions. Please note that I have no part in the show and the information I have is gathered from sources and locals who have reported this to me.”

Laguna Beach is over for good. How will this affect Virtual Laguna Beach?

MTV has made it clear that in the event that Laguna Beach ends, the show will live on virtually and the Virtual Laguna Beach game would continue to operate online. There is a chance that if the new Newport series secedes that a Virtual Newport Beach might be created.

I really wanted to see the season 3 cast end in their senior year. What has happened to them?

I covered this in the last section of this post. To sum it up, Breanna and Rocky became friends again, Tessa moved away to her home town of San Celemente and does not talk to her Laguna friends much anymore, Rocky continues to date Alex, Breanna found a new boyfriend, Kevin, Kyndra decided to attend Laguna Beach High School for her senior year (in the past, she was home schooled), and all the typical Laguna stuff like Winter Formal. The LBHS Class of 2007 will celebrate Prom on June 2 and graduate on June 21.

Why did MTV decide to end Laguna Beach?

MTV decided to end Laguna Beach, one of the most popular reality series in MTV history, for many reasons. First of all, MTV and the producers noticed how the show declined in ratings big time during its third season. The reason behind the decline in ratings was because after season 2, the cast that everyone had watched for the show’s first 2 seasons had all graduated and moved on. The old cast leaving and the introduction of a whole new cast caused the show to loose viewers. I guess that the producers just didn’t want to risk airing another unsuccessful season of Laguna Beach and instead work on a different show, in a different location, with a different cast.

What is MTV doing in Newport, and when will we see the show?

MTV is currently working on a new reality drama similar to Laguna Beach in Newport Beach, a beach town made famous by FOX’s The OC, and just a few miles away from Laguna. The show is still in pre-production and development. Currently, reports coming from Newport tell us that MTV has begun casting at Newport Harbor High School, but nothing is official right now. I’m thinking that casting will happen soon, if not already, and filming will continue for a period of 6 months similar to the filming schedule of Laguna Beach. So I’m thinking we will see this new series sometime in 2008.
